The Louisiana State Depositary was created by ordinances of the Convention of the State of Louisiana in 1861 to administer the funds deposited in the Sub-Treasury of the United States at New Orleans after the secession of Louisiana from the Union and prior to the transfer of the funds to the Confederate States of America.
